This is a series of articles providing you with step by step instructions on how to convert a given default Blogger template in to a three column template with either two right sidebars or with left and right sidebars.
(If you, however, prefer to know the internal details of three columns before following a step by step guide, then I suggest you to take a look at my other series, Blogger Three Column Templates Explained.)

Thank you for the discussion on the 3 column templates and the Wire Frame Editor. From your information I was able to clean up the 3 column Rounders Wire Frame Editor. I had only one problem. I could not adjust the #main-wrapper or #main-wrap1 or #main-wrap2 width. It seems that the width is locked at about 490px. I was trying to set the width to 400px. I was able to adjust the 2nd and 3rd column OK and had to set the width to 125px in order keep everything looking OK. What could be happening to keep me from adjusting the main-wrapper width.
Thank you
Just changed my "Son of Moto" to 3-columns using your step-by-step instructions. Took me a few times to get it right, but succeeded! As per your request, I added a post thanking your genius and linking the readers back here!!
Hi Tami,
You are welcome. And thanks for linking back to my blog.
Hi Cymon,
Thanks for your comments.
The problem could be due to the images that define the borders of the main wrappers. Search for the "corners_main_bot.gif". This defines the bottom part of main-wrap1. Actually the post area is covered with the help of 3 images. The other two are "corners_main_top.gif" and "rails_main.gif". Did you adjust them?
Have a look at step (5) of Son of Moto guide. There I have used an extended image. It's very easy to do this. Most of these are simple images and can be easily extended using MS Paint. I will be writing up another article on extending such templates soon.
Hi,
er, the links to the gudies for the TicTae & TicTae Blue templates are not there??
I'm the unfortunate one using TicTae Blue template........
Modifying TicTac is somewhat harder and obviously it got pushed back :)
Not sure whether I will be able to do that any soon
Wow. Thanks so much for this helpful guide but ALSO for visiting to see my result & offering a suggestion! I never expected to see that and I was able to fix the columns as you had said. Love my new look and have other things I need to learn. :) I am thrilled with how easy your directions were to follow. Superb. With appreciation, Melissa

Only issue is that my customized color scheme for Link Color and Visited Link Color have reset to their default colors, and I can't change them back in Layout/Fonts and Colors. The custom colors show as selected, but don't appear on the blog. Have tried selecting and saving my custom colors again several times, but it won't take.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
Hi Mark,
I replied to you on the Blogger Help group.
Minima Lefty Stretch 3-column template ... there's no $endside and $startSide on my template, I think that's 'cause it's stretch and not normal.
Hi, I sent you an e-mail. I have a Lazy Day theme and wondering if you could help me convert to a 3 column layout. Im not so much of a techie.
thanks.
Tried changing my Scribe template with someone else's instructions and failed miserably. After 2.5 hrs. of struggle, I found your instructions and had it fixed in ten minutes! You're a lifesaver!!! BTW, I gave you credit on my site. Thanks again.
Wow - I just read this AFTER I read your thread about how to change the "Harbor Template". This is simply wonderful and indeed you've done the changes to the Minima Lefty template which is what I'm using. I can't wait to implement it and see how it looks. Thank you so much for doing such a great job of detailing the "How To". I've learned a great deal from others but I have to admit I learned more from you because you have not only the "how" but also the "why".
You are a gift to those of us who are in the learning process!!!!!!! Many kudos....
I am getting horizontal columns when I made the changes why? please help me out!!
What is the blog URL and template? Please drop me a mail with the details. (see contact link at top)
Everyone should give IdS a big hand and a donation for all the help he's given us.
After trying and failing to install zipped templates that returned parsing error messages, I came across this site.
So far, it's been the only template site to offer usable template information.
I e-mailed the other sites for help in trying to sort out the parsing difficulty and never heard back.
great. i learn a lot from this. now i would just like to ask if you have tutorial for installing a nav bar and for the 125x125? add/sponsor boxes that are seen in other blogs. tnx. apple4doc
Hi... I am trying to convert my blog to three colums. I am using Rounders 2 and the changes you show for Rounders does not work. Any suggestions.
Rounders 2 has everything except #header-wrapper {
url code so though I tried the rest and even did the 6th CSS rules it still doesn't work.
Your suggestion would be *greatly* appreciated! Thank you.

I used your steps to change the Rounders 4 template to 3 columns. It worked great except now the pretty design in the header is missing (the green muted leaves?) I really liked that...anyway I can get that back and still keep the three columns?
